PRINCETON, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team has been picked fourth in the annual preseason poll of West Virginia Conference coaches.
Veteran head coach
Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers just missed qualifying for their fourth NCAA Division II tournament appearance in the past five years this past spring and are looking to make another run at post-season play.
Bluefield State received 6 of the 9 first-place votes to earn the role of pre-season favorite with 77 points while West Virginia Wesleyan got 2 first-place votes to claim the No. 2 spot with 68 points. Charleston got the lone remaining first-place vote to edge out West Liberty at No. 3 with Concord and Davis & Elkins tying for No. 5.
Shepherd, West Virginia State and Fairmont State round out the list.
Coach McCullough and his Hilltoppers are scheduled to make their 2012 debut Feb. 10-11 in Charleston at the UC Invitational.
