ST. GEORGE, Utah – West Liberty University senior linebacker Clay Beeler closed out his college career with another impressive all-star game performance here Saturday afternoon.

The 2010 West Virginia Conference Defensive Player of the Year started at outside linebacker for the Mountain States All-Stars in their 17-13 victory against the Pacific States All-Stars in the inaugural Dixie Gridiron Classic, hosted by Dixie State (Utah) College.

The 6-3, 225-pound Beeler ranked among the defensive leaders on the afternoon with 7 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Mistral Raymond, a defensive back from the University of South Florida, earned game MVP honors with 7 tackles, an interception and 2 forced fumbles for the Mountain State squad.

More than 70 FBS, FCS and NCAA Division II standouts participated in the inaugural Classic.

Saturday's performance was Beeler's second strong outing in a post-season all-star game. He was the leading tackler in December's 16th annual All-American Bowl in Minneapolis, Minn., helping his Stars All-Star team pitch a 13-0 shutout against the Stripes All-Stars.

A three-time All-WVIAC and All-Region selection with the Hilltoppers, Beeler wrapped up a stellar four-year career this fall as one of the five leading tacklers in West Liberty history.
